'The Year is 2217 (Anno Domini). Earth is primarily inhabited by two animal species, and both are Human'.

This is how our story opens, and we soon meet Quan and Shen, two youths of the Hsien tribe, who live in a pristine forest high above a thermal junk strewn desert wasteland, where below, in giant underground complexes live the Amerikans, who, we find are facing a big problem, and are concocting a plan to use the captured children of the mountain tribes to remediate their dilemma. As the story unfolds, we may be asking ourselves, who is really the captive? Dr. Clyfe Russel, architect of the Amerikan's plan, undergoes a profound transformation after being brought into contact with the Hsien youths, and becomes the unwhitting instigator of a 'quantum leap' in Human evolution.
This powerfully sobering yet inspiring tale of desperation, redemption and renewal represents what the author calls a 'probable future story', as our now-changing Earth may one day soon relinquish the tranquil and fertile gifts she's given. The Hsien provides a thought provoking narrative and educational road map, by which we might re-evaluate the past, navigate the future and help insure the survival and adaptation of the Human race as we face the need to evolve into a more thoughtful and mature species. This book contains some language innapropriate for young readers.
